Charles Tompkins is a commercial litigator with over twenty years’ experience navigating high-stakes litigation. He is a member of the Executive Committee and the chair of the firm’s Antitrust and Unfair Competition practice group. Mr. Tompkins focuses his practice on crafting cost-effective and practical solutions for businesses embroiled in high-stakes litigation. He has extensive experience representing clients, including Fortune 500 companies and national retailers, in the U.S. and abroad to recover damages caused by violations of antitrust and competition law. He has represented clients involved in manufacturing, health care, retail, and agriculture, among others. Mr. Tompkins has recovered hundreds of millions dollars for his corporate clients.
Whether representing businesses accused of unfair competition practices or those injured by alleged violations, Mr. Tompkins focuses on working closely with clients to identify and achieve dispute-resolution goals that take into account the business concerns that frequently accompany industry-wide allegations of anticompetitive activity. Mr. Tompkins and his team have the litigation and trial experience necessary to efficiently resolve complex disputes inside and outside the courtroom.
Mr. Tompkins is a frequent speaker and author on antitrust matters. Most recently, Mr. Tompkins has spoken on the application of the Foreign Trade Antitrust Improvement Act (“FTAIA”) to modern global commercial transactions and on the intersection of antitrust liability and domestic and foreign bankruptcy law protections. Mr. Tompkins is the author of “Innovation Economics and the Law: The Health Care Industry’s Exposure to Antitrust Liability,” published as a Program Paper for the American Bar Association Section of Antitrust Law, and “Damage Issues in Fair Labor Standards Act Collective Action Litigation,” published in the Employee Rights and Employment Policy Journal. He is consistently selected by his peers as a Leading Lawyer in Antitrust Law and Commercial Litigation.

Mr. Tompkins received his B.A., magna cum laude, in 1992 from Colgate University. He received his J.D. in 1997 from University of Virginia Law School.
